Creating your design

YOUR DESIGN

  • DPI: we recommend only using images which are above 72 dpi, however images around 300 dpi will give the best results.
  • Resolution: smaller resolutions (~320 x 240) are okay on smaller products (ie. keyrings, bag tags, cufflinks and pill boxes), however the bigger the product, the better the resolution needs to be. A good rule of thumb is simply to use images as big as possible, with a minimum of around 1024 x 768. If you’re unsure, get in touch and we will let you know.
  • Colour: If you have a particular colour in mind, please specify it using RGB, CMYK, or HEX codes to ensure accuracy. (Please note: Colours may appear slightly different when printed compared to how they look on a screen but we will do our very best to match these as closely as possible.)

Higher quality images will result in higher quality end results.

Generally speaking, photos taken with good-quality cameras or mobile phones typically work well across all products. However, following our image recommendations will help ensure the highest print quality. If you’re unsure about anything, feel free to contact us – we’re happy to help!

For our mosaics, we recommend a minimum of 4800 x 2400 pixels and 300 DPI.

  • JPG/JPEG: Best for most photos and images. Compressed but good quality.
  • PNG: Ideal for images with transparency (e.g., logos, designs without backgrounds).
  • PDF: Useful for high-quality vector graphics and text-based designs.
  • SVG: Best for vector graphics, logos, and illustrations that need to be resized without losing quality.

For the best results, we recommend using high-resolution images (300 DPI or higher) in PNG or SVG format. If you’re unsure about your file, feel free to contact us!

DESIGN INSTRUCTIONS

What to Include in Your Design Instructions
Here are some helpful examples of what to include in the instructions box when designing your product. If no instructions are provided, we will create the design to the best of our ability. However, we cannot be held responsible for any design issues that may arise due to missing instructions.

If you would like a specific font, please let us know. If we don’t have your font available, we will do our best to find the closest fit we can.

If you’re looking for some inspiration, check out 1001fonts.com or dafont.com. You can find lots of different styles and themes but please check the licensing terms to ensure the fonts are suitable for your intended use.

Our design software should give you an indication of how the product will look with your image wrapped around it. If you’ve got any further questions or instructions, simply let us know in the box provided or by email.

If you have already created a product with us, please include as much information regarding that design as you can. For example: name, date of order, order number, general description of design.

If you’re unsure about anything at all, please get in touch.

We will do our best to match fonts and designs to your preferences. Let us know the style you’re aiming for – whether it’s serious, playful, or bold – and we’ll tailor the design accordingly to achieve the best result.

If you have any specific requirements regarding the placement of your design, please get in touch.

PRODUCT DESIGNER

The Ginger Coo offers the use of an online product designer for our printed items. This is to provide customers with the opportunity to view an illustration of their design on our products. Following the submission of your order, we will resize and adapt the image to provide optimal quality and design of the end product. Please note that the designer is there for illustration purposes only – we cannot guarantee an exact copy but will do our best to replicate it as closely as we can.

If you have any further design instructions after using the product design, please enter these in the box provided during checkout, or send us a message.

  1. To initialise our product designer, select Customise on the product page. This will bring up a smaller window showing the product and several options around the outside.
  2. Some products allow you to design more than one side. If this is the case, you’ll see the different side views in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Simply click on these to design each side.
  3. ADD IMAGE – click here to upload your images to the designer. You can select to upload from your computer or from Pixabay and more. Alternatively, you can drag images into the area provided. This window will also show any images you have already uploaded. Once you have chosen an image, it will appear in the designer. Here, you can move, resize, duplicate, copy or delete the image, using the options provided in each corner.
  4. ADD TEXT – clicking here will bring up a small text window where you can type your text. Once you’re happy with your wording, click ADD TEXT and it will transfer the text into the designer. From here, you can move, resize, duplicate, copy or delete the text, using the options in each corner. You can also select a variety of options in the pop up window, such as text colour, font and style.
  5. DONE – when you’re happy with your design, click here to return to the product page where you can add the product to your basket. Don’t forget to add any design instructions!
  6. UNDO/REDO – found at the bottom of the designer, this allows you to revert back to a previous edit, or vice versa.
  7. DOWNLOAD – found at the top of your design. This allows you to save the design to your computer.
  8. PRINT – found at the top of your design.
  9. MAGNET – found in the centre, at the top of your design. This enables you to arrange items to a grid.
  10. PREVIEW – found in the centre, at the top of your design. Click here to see a preview of your design.
  11. LAYERS – this allows you to move text or images to the top or bottom of your design. When you click on the layer icon, it will bring up a smaller window. This will show you the items you have uploaded. Simply click and drag the 4 horizontal bars (burger icon) above or below the other elements to choose the order.
  12. SAVE – this allows you to save the design and upload it again in the product designer.
  13. MAGNIFYING GLASS/ZOOM – these icons allow you to get a closer look at your design.
  14. RESET – this clears your design, and allows you to start afresh.
